I hope the month of November has found you in good spirits! As the leaves are falling and the wind is blowing, I find myself looking forward to transitioning back into my role as a classroom teacher! Next week, I will be taking back over the Language Arts block from 10:10 - lunch. I am so ready! Mr. Crawford's last full week of actual teaching in the classroom will be next week. His last day will be the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, but he will be using this time to observe others in the district if he chooses to do so. The students will miss him greatly, I'm sure. I know I will!
In math, the students have been diligently learning about different properties of multiplication, along with memorization of math facts on the Multiplication Magician website. Different properties include the distributive property: (3x2) + (3x4) or 3 x 6 and the associative property: 3 x (2 x 4). More practice on these skills will be necessary for the chapter test at the end of next week.
The language arts block finds us learning about cause and effect along with contractions. Many students that aren't passing these tests aren't using their books to help them. We read the story 4 times each week minimum. Test grades are worth much more than daily grades, so if you haven't checked your child's grades online lately, please do so. Most of the mistakes made on the test are avoidable and are due to a lack of focus or effort. They are MUCH smarter than they have shown the past two weeks.
Be sure to check your child's blog posts if you haven't done so lately. They are finishing up some Thanksgiving topics they chose to write about. Comments are always welcome.
Have fun raking leaves and doing whatever else the weekend brings on your agenda! I hope your child(ren) enjoy(s) the nice 3 day weekend. We teachers will be learning about all kinds of fun topics Monday!
Have a great weekend,
