This week has been full of activity! We started learning about solid figures, also known as 3D shapes in math this week. We made great strides and were prepared enough to take an outcome test on it Thursday. On Friday, we did extra practice on solid figures on TenMarks in the computer lab. These scores are used as daily assignment grades, so the students strive to do their best on them!
In language arts, we've started a new unit that has stories filled with world culture. This week, we read a story titled Suki's Kimono. To reinforce this concept on world culture, students did research on Japanese culture. Their studies have been the topic of their blogs. Please be sure to leave a comment on them! This validates why they write blogs, and they sure love reading comments on their blogs, especially if it came from parents or other students!
In social studies, we continued our studies on world cultures. We used this time to continue our research on Japanese culture and write factual, interesting information that we found. Students were then shown how to paraphrase information from expository text, so that they weren't plagiarizing information!
