It was definitely a short week for the students, but was very productive! In reading, we researched some basic pioneer facts and finished up on Thursday with writing a letter to a pioneer child that has yet to go on the trail. The students took on the role of a pioneer that had already made it successfully to Oregon! They then illustrated their "most memorable scene" from their travel west.
Next week, we will continue our pioneer studies in social studies and finish the week with a field trip to Ward-Meade Park in Topeka on Friday. Many pictures will be taken and posted to the website upon our return.
Math has been a time of drill and practice these last three days. Much of which has been done by way of Xtramath.org, worksheets, and decks of playing cards. Next week we will be doing subtraction with regrouping!
I look forward to seeing everyone during parent/teacher conferences next week to discuss your child's strengths and areas in need of improvement!
Have a great weekend!
