Well, we finished up our second week of penguin topics this week! In reading, we have been reading expository nonfiction on penguins and the students have learned quite a few facts! Look for podcasts of their expository paragraphs on our "Podcasts" tab on the website. They will be uploaded as soon as students finish recording these on the laptops.
In math, we have continued our studies on adding and subtracting estimates as well as adding larger 2 and 3 digit numbers. Most of this practice has come in the form of TenMarks practice online, along with some worksheets.
We finished up the week with a review of the different types of animals: mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and birds. Next week, we will begin our studies of pioneers with a story in reading titled William's House. In social studies, will be looking at a Jefferson County timeline and some local history of both Meriden and Ozawkie. To reinforce this important time in US History, we will be taking our annual field trip to Ward-Meade Park in Topeka.
Have a great weekend!
