This week has been quite the frenzy! We've been spending much time working on routines and figuring each others' tendencies. I have learned lots and lots about my class thus far, and I must say, I am in for a treat! Thank you all that came to the Parent Night last night. Lots of great information was given, and more importantly, received!
In reading this week, we have discussed the importance of sequence in a story. We read a story titled What About Me? in which a boy is in search of knowledge. He has many hoops he must step through in order to find knowledge. A test was given online. Students are allowed to use their stories. Students that earn lower than an 80% will take the paper copy of the test and correct it by finding the page number in which the question is located in the story.
In Math, we have been rounding numbers and looking at place values. The new Go Math! series the students are using is a wonderful improvement on teaching Common Core! I am excited that we have this wonderful resource.
In science, we have been learning about life cycles of plants. Next week, Mr. Crawford, our student-teacher this fall, will be starting his teaching experience in Social Studies! Economics will be the topic that he teaches!
Thank you for all you do.
Have a great weekend,
