What a busy 4-day week we've had! We have successfully finished chapter 3 in our math series with properties of multiplication. A test was given online this Friday and I'm proud to report that EVERYONE (that was present, that is) has successfully completed this with high marks! You can always login to my website here and ask your child for their GoMath! login and password and click on "My Test Scores." Chapter 3 Test - Form A is the one you will click on to see their scores. Next week, we will begin chapter 4 with Multiplication Facts and Strategies.
In reading, we moved the comprehension test and spelling test to Friday since there was no school Wednesday. Next week, we will go backwards one story to read Tops and Bottoms. This is a fable about a lazy bear and some clever rabbits that take over his property in a sneaky business proposition. We will be discussing Author's Purpose. We teach it like this: Author's Purpose is as easy as P.I.E. P=Persuade I=Inform E=Entertain. Authors mainly use these three choices when they choose to write something. Plural possessive nouns will be the grammar skill. Example: The dogs' owners were very caring.
The pioneer unit came to a close today. This three-week simulation has been a lot of fun and hopefully a memory that they can reflect back on for years to come. Lots of excitement and unfortunate fates have happened along the trail. Did your child's wagon train make it safely to Oregon, or did they get trapped in the snowy mountains? Be sure to have your child share what their ultimate fate was when they get home today!
Thanks for all you do,
